NIGHT SONG, by MARION KNILL HENDRIX First Line: My sleep is cool quicksilver and I swim Last Line: I swim in quiet waters, cool and deep. Subject(s): Night; Bedtime | ||||||||
My sleep is cool quicksilver and I swim So swiftly through her depths, only the night Can hear me as I float inside the rim Of silence. Stars bend down and yearn for sight Of me, all white and silver, but the dim And half resentful moon withholds his light. No shadows on the shore disturb my sleep. I swim in quiet waters, cool and deep. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE BREATH OF NIGHT by RANDALL JARRELL HOODED NIGHT by ROBINSON JEFFERS NIGHT WITHOUT SLEEP by ROBINSON JEFFERS WORKING OUTSIDE AT NIGHT by DENIS JOHNSON POEM TO TAKE BACK THE NIGHT by JUNE JORDAN COOL DARK ODE by DONALD JUSTICE POEM TO BE READ AT 3 A.M by DONALD JUSTICE ROUND ABOUT MIDNIGHT by BOB KAUFMAN SOMETHING REMAINS by MARION KNILL HENDRIX |
