CAPRICE, by ELLEN G. HILLEBOE First Line: The roguish wind, when bored with play Last Line: The roguish wind. Subject(s): Wind | ||||||||
The roguish wind, when bored with play Among the tree tops, comes to sway The ferns and fan the grass below; And while I watch, the scamp will go Across the lawn to dance a gay Fandango with my flowers; yea, Will swoop across the fields to spray The lake with sparkling waves to tow The roguish wind. The air is sibilant with fray Of leaves and vibrates with the lay He breathes to fragrant trees that pray For fruits, and murmurings that flow Through pines too woe-begone to stay The roguish wind. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE THREE CHILDREN by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN THE WIND by LOUISE MOREY BOWMAN LEAF LITTER ON ROCK FACE by HEATHER MCHUGH RESIDENTIAL AREA by JOSEPHINE MILES THE DAY THE WINDS by JOSEPHINE MILES VARIATIONS: 12 by CONRAD AIKEN OH IT'S PRETTY WINDY OUTSIDE by LARRY EIGNER BEAUTY NEAR AT HAND by ELLEN G.
