FERNS IN A WINDOW, by PEARL HOBSON First Line: Primitive children of the woods Last Line: Dreams only are lifted the bars. Subject(s): Freedom; Prisons & Prisoners; Windows; Liberty; Convicts | ||||||||
Primitive children of the woods, Imprisoned within my city apartment, Why do you lean so close to The window casement? Are you seeking your way back home To the forest glades, Where once you dwelt in lace-work beauty of leafy shade? I, too, am imprisoned and gaze from The window of my mind's eye Back to the happy hours when I ran Free in the days gone by, Listening to the song of the birds, the Trees and the stars. There is no going back little ferns; in Dreams only are lifted the bars. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SECULAR GAMES by RICHARD HOWARD WHAT DID YOU SEE? by FANNY HOWE JULIA TUTWILER STATE PRISON FOR WOMEN by ANDREW HUDGINS BOTHWELL: PART 4 by WILLIAM EDMONSTOUNE AYTOUN BOTHWELL: PART 4 by WILLIAM EDMONSTOUNE AYTOUN WORK IN PROGRESS by CHARLES MARTIN THE SUBCULTURE OF THE WRONGLY ACCUSED by THYLIAS MOSS |
