Subject(s): Freedom; Prisons & Prisoners; Windows; Liberty; Convicts

Primitive children of the woods,
Imprisoned within my city apartment,
Why do you lean so close to
The window casement?
Are you seeking your way back home
To the forest glades,
Where once you dwelt in lace-work beauty of leafy shade?

I, too, am imprisoned and gaze from
The window of my mind's eye
Back to the happy hours when I ran
Free in the days gone by,
Listening to the song of the birds, the
Trees and the stars.
There is no going back little ferns; in
Dreams only are lifted the bars.
