MY heart is a cathedral vast where thou
Art praised and glorified in silent prayer.
Within its inmost shrine where shadows sleep,
There is thine image set: and all my thoughts,
Pure white-robed priests, pause reverently there
And praise thy name in rapturous ecstasy.
Amid the silence and the mystic gloom
My dreams are ranged like giant candles set
Within the carven niches of the walls,
And flicker there with pale transparent flames
Amid the opal wreaths of incense faint
That rise fantastically towards the dome....
My memories are the shadowy worshippers,
And over all thy spirit broods supreme.
