TRAVEL, by BOYCE HOUSE Poet's Biography First Line: Chariots of brass Last Line: Boyce house Subject(s): Travel; Journeys; Trips | ||||||||
Chariots of brass, Kings holding the crimson reins, Black horses with white foam flying, Fiery nostrils and drumming hoofs. Gondolas of ducas, Gliding along the liquid, moon-drenched streets of Venice; Proud with purple and gold silks; A gondolier with slow sweeps keeping time to a sadly-beautiful song. Automobiles of workers, In apple-green and dawn-pink, With silver trappings; A twist of a dial and music is plucked from the air; A press of the foot and the strength of a hundred horses responds; Hills and boulders, trees and towns wing past in a grand procession.
