Some day I too will seem asleep, Subdued and fixed in death, When I have climbed the hillside steep -- Then lost my last faint breath. Some day I too shall wear a shroud Of silver tints and gray, Perhaps forgotten by the crowd With whom I used to play. It matters not how curls my hair, Nor where my body lies, If some one only comforts her Who loved my tired eyes. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A FRIEND KILLED IN THE WAR by ANTHONY HECHT FOR JAMES MERRILL: AN ADIEU by ANTHONY HECHT TARANTULA: OR THE DANCE OF DEATH by ANTHONY HECHT CHAMPS D?ÇÖHONNEUR by ERNEST HEMINGWAY NOTE TO REALITY by TONY HOAGLAND |
