ROBIN HOOD, by MARY HOVEY First Line: Have you heard the tale of robin hood? Last Line: He was honored by his lion-hearted chief. Subject(s): Robin Hood | |||
Have you heard the tale of Robin Hood? How he lived to right the wrongs? Of his deeds in poems, in songs? Of the life for which he stood? Though he stole, yet he was good; He was scourged, was hit with thongs; Unto ages he belongs; For the helpless he did all he could. What a paradox is this, He an outlaw and a thief, One to rail at and to hiss, He the scout who brought relief; While his Marian sealed him with a kiss, He was honored by his Lion-hearted Chief. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SONG OF SHERWOOD by ALFRED NOYES LITTLE JOHN AND THE RED FRIAR; A LAY OF SHERWOOD by WILLIAM EDMONSTOUNE AYTOUN THE DESERTED GARDEN by GRACE BROWN PUTNAM FROM DELPHI TO CAMDEN by JAMES WHITCOMB RILEY NESSMUK by JAMES WHITCOMB RILEY "ROBIN HOOD AND ALLIN-A-DALE [OR, ALAN A DALE]" by ANONYMOUS ROBIN HOOD AND GUY OF GISBORNE by ANONYMOUS "ROBIN HOOD AND THE THREE WIDOW'S SONS [OR,THE THREE SQUIRES]" by ANONYMOUS |
