WISTARIA VINTAGE, by MAUDE E. HUDSON First Line: What miracle of fragile blossoming! Last Line: From canopy of frail wistaria bloom. Subject(s): Wisteria | ||||||||
What miracle of fragile blossoming! This alien vine, this flinty mountainside Cannot deny the urgency of spring, And sinuous branches flaunt their purple pride. But petals have a frail and fleeting day; We sip their vintage only now and here. No ripening wine remains to charm away Tomorrow's dull regret, tomorrow's fear. And yet the fading petals do not die, For loveliness recalled has healing power -- A flagon of delight to fortify The wavering spirit through a darkened hour. O, never shall I lose the faint perfume From canopy of frail wistaria bloom. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...WISTERIA LIGHT by DIANE DI PRIMA THE PURPLE WISTARIA by RUTH LE PRADE MY WISTARIA GIRL by CHARLES LOUIS HENRY WAGNER WISTERIA LIGHT by DIANE DI PRIMA WISTERIA by ELOISE KLEIN HEALY WISTERIA by STEPHEN CRAIG KNAUTH MUSIC AND MEMORY by JOHN ALBEE THE WANDERER: 2.
