SONG OF FABIANI, by                     Poet's Biography
First Line: When you sing at my breast
Last Line: Sleep, dear, and love.
Subject(s): Love; Singing & Singers; Songs

When you sing at my breast,
Where cradled you lie,
And my thoughts are confessed
As I murmur reply;
Your sweet crooning recalls
The rich splendors of yore. ...
Sing, my belovèd,
Sing evermore.

When you smile, from your lips
Love wings his keen dart,
A new confidence grips
At my softening heart.
Ah! the smile of your faith
Bares a soul free of lore. ...
Smile, my belovèd,
Smile evermore.

When you sleep pure and calm
In the dusk by my side,
Your soft breath is a psalm
Such as Cupids confide.
And your rose-velvet flesh
Does its fragrance outpour. ...
Sleep, my belovèd,
Sleep evermore.

When you sigh: "Thee, I love!"
You have made me a god!
I feel heaven above
Ope its gates at my nod.
Your glance sparkles so clear
With the flame I adore. ...
Love, my belovèd,
Love evermore.

Do you feel how life's all
But these four words contain?
All the joys that enthrall,
All the joy without pain.
All that man from his earth
To the god-heights can move. ...
Sing, then, and smile,
Sleep, dear, and love.
