WINGS, by GLADYS MELVILLE INT-HOUT First Line: On laggard wing, the butterfly Last Line: And poised my soul for flight. Subject(s): Wings | ||||||||
On laggard wing, the butterfly Sips nectar from the flowers -- A jeweled voyager content To dream away the hours. On ghostly wing the night moth flies Unknown, unseen, unheard -- And yet because it passed just then The scented air is stirred. And sometimes in the quiet dawn Or in the dim twilight I, too, have felt the lift of wings And poised my soul for flight. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ESTATE SALE: THE SCRABBLE GAME OF A DEAD WOMAN by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE FREED FROM ANOTHER CONTEXT by ELEANOR WILNER THE BIRD IN THE LAUREL'S SONG by ELEANOR WILNER THE LITERAL = THE ABSTRACT: A DEMONSTRATION by ELEANOR WILNER THE GAZING BALL by GLADYS MELVILLE INT-HOUT |
