ICE WITCHERIES, by ADELINE M. JENNEY First Line: Shingled in light and tipped with fire Last Line: To shattered crystal on the grasses. Subject(s): Crystallization; Ice; Physics; Winter | ||||||||
Shingled in light and tipped with fire, The white church lifts a crystal spire; The street is arched by crystal trees Crusted with gleaming marquetries; The elders droop with crystal seeds, The elms tell shining buds like beads. Down through the sunshine drops a breeze: A thousand, whimsy melodies, Small, vagrant, tinkling, silky patters, Wake chittering harmony that scatters Silenceand enchantment passes To shattered crystal on the grasses. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...LOOKING EAST IN THE WINTER by JOHN HOLLANDER WINTER DISTANCES by FANNY HOWE WINTER FORECAST by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN AT WINTER'S EDGE by JUDY JORDAN CHAMBER MUSIC: 34 by JAMES JOYCE A LITTLE HOPE by ADELINE M.
