THE LEVEL WAY, by JOSEPHINE WINSLOW JOHNSON Poet's Biography First Line: My road lies open, over level country Last Line: Monotony. Subject(s): Roads; Paths; Trails | ||||||||
My road lies open, over level country, Bare as the sea. No sudden turn, no unexpected winding, No mystery. I dreamed of rugged paths to splendid summits, Where far-flung views Should lift my soul to heaven, and recompense me For ache and bruise. No heights, no dangers here, no high adventure -- I only see The need of greater courage still for facing Monotony. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HE FINDS THE MANSION by JAMES MCMICHAEL BY DIFFERENT PATHS by MARVIN BELL DRIVING HOME by MADELINE DEFREES ART IS PARALLEL TO NATURE by CLARENCE MAJOR HIGHWAY 2, ILLINOIS by LISEL MUELLER FOOL'S PARADISE by JOSEPHINE WINSLOW JOHNSON |
