THE SHEPHERD OF THE STARS, by ELLA COLTER JOHNSTON First Line: Across the silent fields of night Last Line: Gathering in his stars. Subject(s): Stars | ||||||||
Across the silent fields of Night, When Dusk lets down the bars, One wrapped in mystic robes of light Goes shepherding the stars. With patient and unerring skill His myriad flocks are driven Over the age-old trails that still Climb the steep heights of heaven. He herds them down the Milky Way; Infinity is crossed; Yet not one ever goes astray Nor one small star is lost. Across the silent fields of Night, As Dawn puts up the bars, I think I see One robed in light Gathering in His stars. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE EPIC STARS by ROBINSON JEFFERS HYMN TO THE STARS by GEORGE LAWRENCE ANDREWS CHRISTMAS TREE by JOHN FREDERICK NIMS CLEMATIS MONTANA by MADELINE DEFREES THE UNCERTAINTY PRINCIPLE by JAMES GALVIN TO SEE THE STARS IN DAYLIGHT by JAMES GALVIN A VOICE FROM FLANDERS FIELDS by ELLA COLTER JOHNSTON |
