AN OLD FISHING NET, by
First Line: Shorn of his strength by time, these worn-out nets
Last Line: Reproach him not -- for 'tis his all in all.
Alternate Author Name(s): Julianus Aegyptius
Subject(s): Fish & Fishing; Anglers

SHORN of his strength by time, these worn-out nets
Old Cinyras offers for the Nymphs as spoil.
His quivering hand the mesh no longer sets
To shoot and belly as the lines uncoil.
Take them, ye Nymphs, and though the gift be small,
Reproach him not -- for 'tis his all in all.
