SKY OF BLOOD, by GUSTAVE KAHN Poet's Biography First Line: The hour of the white cloud has softened on the plain Last Line: O golden heath, o sky steeped in blood. Subject(s): Blood | ||||||||
The hour of the white cloud has softened on the plain In bloody glimmerings, in woolly skein, O rosy heath, O sky steeped in blood. The hour of the golden cloud has paled upon the plain, And slowly the long white veils must fall again, O purple heath, O sky steeped in blood. The hour of the golden cloud has burst upon the plain, The reeds under the sky of hate sing a quiet strain, O red heath, O sky steeped in blood. The hour of the golden cloud has passed across the plain Swiftly: the splendor is far off amain, O golden heath, O sky steeped in blood. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SO MANY BLOOD-LAKES by ROBINSON JEFFERS LOVE IN BLOODLINE by SHARON OLDS RIVERS ARE NOT IMPASSIVE by AIME CESAIRE A VISIT TO GETTYSBURG by LUCILLE CLIFTON SHE UNDERSTANDS ME by LUCILLE CLIFTON NEW ENGLAND, AUTUMN by NORMAN DUBIE BANGLA DESH: 1 by FAIZ AHMED FAIZ |
