Centuries of singing voices have gone,
And this mountain that I now stand on
Beds many an immortals' clay
In everlasting prison stay;

And when to eternity I dare tread,
With boldness, and by music led,
Lord keep the mocking voices from my ear,
The counsel of the deathless singers near.
