Within the hidden realm of change and flow,
Beauty the poet seeks with abstract zest,
The fine idea of beauty, not the show
Of color that makes beauty manifest,
Till wonder urges levels into sight,
Not forced by thought, not rich with bastard dye,
But focused to reality by light,
That conjures vision in a poet's eye.

Beauty has been the realm that he foresaw,
Yet this is more than beauty in distress:
A million people stooping low to draw
Water from a well of holiness,
Dropping their crocks upon the earth, to cry,
For every well they dipped into was dry.
