A HOPE, by CHARLES KINGSLEY Poet's Biography First Line: Twin stars, aloft in ether clear Last Line: And shine unto the perfect day. | ||||||||
TWIN stars, aloft in ether clear, Around each other roll alway, Within one common atmosphere Of their own mutual light and day. And myriad happy eyes are bent Upon their changeless love alway; As, strengthened by their one intent, They pour the flood of life and day. So we through this world's waning night May, hand in hand, pursue our way; Shed round us order, love, and light, And shine unto the perfect day. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A ROUGH RHYME ON A ROUGH MATTER; THE ENGLISH GAME LAWS by CHARLES KINGSLEY AIRLY BEACON by CHARLES KINGSLEY DOLCINO TO MARGARET by CHARLES KINGSLEY THE INVITATION (TO TOM HUGHES) by CHARLES KINGSLEY THE LAST BUCCANEER by CHARLES KINGSLEY THE SANDS OF DEE by CHARLES KINGSLEY THE THREE FISHERS by CHARLES KINGSLEY A NEW FOREST BALLAD by CHARLES KINGSLEY A PARABLE FROM LIEBIG by CHARLES KINGSLEY |
