FUR BEARERS, by ELISABETH KUSKULIS First Line: Grayshadow, what is that strange thing I see Last Line: How soft chinchilla is! . . . God, traps are slow! Subject(s): Animals; Hunting; Hunters | ||||||||
Grayshadow, what is that strange thing I see Drest in my brother's skin . . . and where is he? That is woman, my baby seal, don't be afraid! She is as gentle as this curving blade. Grayshadow, all of my kinsfolk hang there -- Black and white, red, gray and silver-tipt hair. Tush, little fox, your keen eye has a mote! Those are fine scarves for woman's white throat. Grayshadow, Grayshadow, what is that cry From millions of creatures as helpless as I? There, little rabbit, don't tremble so! How soft chinchilla is! . . . God, traps are slow! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE LAMENT OF QUARRY by LEONIE ADAMS KILLDEER by KENNETH SLADE ALLING THE YOUNG FOWLER THAT MISTOOK HIS GAME by PHILIP AYRES A POEM ABOUT THE HOUNDS AND THE HARES by LISEL MUELLER RENAISSANCE by ELISABETH KUSKULIS |
