When that my Son was born in a little town How should I know His servant, carried on a throne, Should through a city go? And when He turned the bargainers away From the long house of prayer, How should I dream, that in a latter day His shrine should find them there. And in His natal town, for all His words, The warring sects increase. How could I tell there would be heathen guards To keep a Christian peace. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY: YEE BOW by EDGAR LEE MASTERS CASSANDRA SOUTHWICK; 1658 by JOHN GREENLEAF WHITTIER JOHN UNDERHILL by JOHN GREENLEAF WHITTIER LATIMER AND RIDLEY, BURNED AT THE STAKE IN OXFORD, 1555 by WILLIAM EDMONSTOUNE AYTOUN THE NEW ANTHEM by NORMAN BOLKER ROGER WILLIAMS by HEZEKIAH BUTTERWORTH AN EXPOSTULATION WITH A SECTARIST, WHO INVEIGHED AGAINST THE CLERGY by JOHN BYROM ON THE GROUND OF TRUE AND FALSE RELIGION by JOHN BYROM A DIALOGUE BETWEEN TWO ZEALOTS UPON THE &C.
