POEMS IN THE SEA, by MEDDIE MAZE LEBOLD First Line: You say there are no poems in the sea Last Line: Your silver ship has cut across my dream. Subject(s): Poetry & Poets; Sea; Ocean | ||||||||
You say there are no poems in the sea, But lyric wavelets dance along the sand; A sonnet meter beats against my hand; And rhythmic gulls float blue immensity. The coming tide is gallant cavalry That gallop sun-lit roads. Where sky and land Are meeting, clouds in cream and rose expand To weave their gold in ancient tapestry. The logs along the bay have smoked for days. I gather bark, or follow driftwood ways, And spin a web of fancy in a theme Ethereal as mist in upward flight. But riding down a path of golden light, Your silver ship has cut across my dream. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HALL OF OCEAN LIFE by JOHN HOLLANDER JULY FOURTH BY THE OCEAN by ROBINSON JEFFERS BOATS IN A FOG by ROBINSON JEFFERS CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE FIGUREHEAD by LEONIE ADAMS NORTH WINTER by HAYDEN CARRUTH |
