THE WICKER CHAIR, by TRISTAN LECLERE Poet's Biography First Line: If I had a house on the ile-de-france Last Line: I'm the richest man alive. Alternate Author Name(s): Klingsor, Tristan Subject(s): Chairs; Poverty; Wishes | ||||||||
If I had a house on the Ile-de-France With freedom to dream therein, I'd laugh at my belly's wide expanse And the folds of my triple chin. If I had four or five wicker chairs And a pretty wife sewing at home, Nothing from nothing would be my cares In the sunny days to come. If I had an income of two or three crowns Each day the Lord lets me thrive, And a sweet little lassie whose song resounds I'm the richest man alive. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...O TO BE A DRAGON by MARIANNE MOORE FOUNTAIN IN AVIGNON by LAURE-ANNE BOSSELAAR THE HOUR BETWEEN DOG AND WOLF: 1.
