TWO THOUGHTS ON YOUTH, by RETTA IRWIN LEICHLITER First Line: Full of slang Last Line: Of love our youth are sowing. Subject(s): Hope; Pessimism; Youth; Optimism | ||||||||
THE PESSIMIST Full of slang, Full of jazz, Full of giddy laughter, With ne'er a thought for things gone by, Nor what may be hereafter. Straight to perdition, so they say, The present age is going, If we may judge the harvest By what our youth are sowing. THE OPTIMIST Full of sweetness, Full of grace, Full of the joy of living; A sweet smile here, a soft touch there, That's what makes life worth living. Straight to our hearts with frank appeal The present age is going, For we enjoy the harvest Of love our youth are sowing. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HOPE IS NOT FOR THE WISE by ROBINSON JEFFERS SONNET by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON SPRING FLOODS by MAURICE BARING SONNET: 9.
