MORNING, by NELL TILLOTSON LIDDELL First Line: The sun peeps o'er the treetops Last Line: In joy that night is gone. Subject(s): Morning | ||||||||
The sun peeps o'er the treetops And drives the mists away, The dewdrops on the grass blades Sparkle like jewels today; The humming birds sup nectar From hyacinth and rose, The redbird in the peach tree Bids farewell to repose. The little pigs awakened From slumber in the sty Are busy getting breakfast, While larks are soaring high; From Morpheus' arms I struggle To hear the call of one Who coos and squirms and wiggles In joy that night is gone. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MORNING SONG by KARLE WILSON BAKER THE WHARF ON THAMES-SIDE: WINTER DAWN by LAURENCE BINYON POEM BEFORE BREAKFAST by TED KOOSER I'VE BEEN ASLEEP by PHILIP LEVINE SPRNG DAY: BREAKFAST TABLE by AMY LOWELL THE WAYSIDE STATION by EDWIN MUIR FAREWELL TO FARGO: SELLING THE HOUSE by KAREN SWENSON |
