MIRACLE, by JAMES CHRISTIAN LINDBERG First Line: Dull, leaden clouds move heavily across the sky Last Line: The world lies immaculate, radiant, clean. Subject(s): Life | ||||||||
Dull, leaden clouds move heavily across the sky, With fretful, fitful mood the wind-grieved trees complain; The sodden air is filled with swirls of stifling dust A faded world lies dead. Will life return again? Twilight lingers ... dies. Night ... wanes. Darkness trembles ... flies. Day ... reigns. In glistening brightness like a queen new-gowned, Bespangled with diamonds and silvery sheen, In shimmering whiteness like a king new-crowned The world lies immaculate, radiant, clean. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...PRIVILEGE OF BEING by ROBERT HASS SEAWATER STIFFENS CLOTH by JANE HIRSHFIELD SAYING YES TO LIVING by DAVID IGNATOW THE WORLD IS SO DIFFICULT TO GIVE UP by DAVID IGNATOW COMPARISON by JAMES CHRISTIAN LINDBERG |
