ROSE PETALS, by JAMES CHRISTIAN LINDBERG First Line: I looked within the petals of a rose Last Line: Within the petals of a rose. Subject(s): Beauty; Flowers; Gardens & Gardening; Love; Roses | ||||||||
I looked within the petals of a rose And there I saw Beauty Pale, trembling dewdrops pearled without a flaw, Vast distances of unexplored desire, Deep, crystal pools that mirrored moon and star And love exalted in the soul of man These lovely things I saw Within the Petals of a rose. I looked within the petals of a rose And there I saw Truth Exquisite harmony, consummate law; I saw the Master Architect compute Eternal formulae of Time and Space And fix for every Sphere its place These perfect things I saw Within the petals of a rose. Beautytranscendent Love, Stern Truthtranscendent law; These wondrous things I saw Within the petals of a rose. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE WHISPER OF THE ROSE by EDMUND JOHN ARMSTRONG THE WISDOM OF THE ROSE by ELSA BARKER LOVE PLANTED A ROSE by KATHARINE LEE BATES ROSES; A VILANELLE by LOUISA SARAH BEVINGTON THE PAINTER ON SILK by AMY LOWELL VARIATIONS: 17 by CONRAD AIKEN WORDS IN A CERTAIN APPROPRIATE MODE by HAYDEN CARRUTH COMPARISON by JAMES CHRISTIAN LINDBERG |
