PRAYER TO SAINT FRANCIS, by
First Line: Francis of assisi
Last Line: A christmas manger!
Subject(s): Francis Assisi, Saint (1181-1226); Saints

Francis of Assisi,
Gentle saint,
Who loved your brother men,
Who loved all brother creatures --
Francis, Little Brother,
Who loved the Feast of Christmas
And fashioned, long ago, a Christmas manger
That your brother men and birds and beasts
Might see and live the beautiful story
Of the birth of the little Lord Jesus --
Might join in worship and praise --
Little Brother of us all,
Come walk the earth once more!
Come, with your eagerness and joy,
To show earth's children how to live
And laugh and sing, in love, together --
Gentle Francis of Assisi,
Come teach us how to fashion
And keep within each heart
A Christmas manger!
