LOVE'S BLINDNESS, by WILLIAM JAMES LINTON Poet's Biography First Line: They call her fair. I do not know Last Line: Her beauty was of kind. Alternate Author Name(s): Spartacus Subject(s): Beauty; Love - Nature Of | ||||||||
THEY call her fair. I do not know: I never thought to look. Who heeds the binder's costliest show When he may read the book? What need a list of parts to me When I possess the whole? Who only watch her eyes to see The color of her soul. I may not praise her mouth, her chin, Her feet, her hands, her arms: My love lacks leisure to begin The schedule of her charms. To praise is only to compare: And therefore Love is blind. I lov'd before I was aware Her beauty was of kind. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...RESCUE THE DEAD by DAVID IGNATOW BUTTERFLIES UNDER PERSIMMON by MARK JARMAN CHAMBER MUSIC: 27 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 28 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 30 by JAMES JOYCE HE WHO KNOWS LOVE by ELSA BARKER LOVE'S HUMBLENESS by ELSA BARKER SONG (IN THE LUCKY CHANCE) by APHRA BEHN EPICUREAN by WILLIAM JAMES LINTON A THRENODY: IN MEMORY OF ALBERT DARASZ, SELECTION by WILLIAM JAMES LINTON |
