ANSWERED PRAYER, by MILDRED LONG First Line: Believe your prayer is answered, truly so Last Line: When time is ripe he will reveal his power. Subject(s): Prayer | ||||||||
Believe your prayer is answered, truly so. For God in wisdom waits to set you free. Perhaps no path can break across your sea Until the stinging east-wind rise and blow. Perhaps for forty years your soul must grow Before you glimpse the fire on bush or tree. Alone within a cave your fate may be That out of silence God's own voice may flow. Be sure that God will answer honest prayer -- Not always as we hoped or planned the way. Have patience then to wait His promised hour. For He who marks the sparrow's fall out there Will hear the child who lifts his heart to pray. When time is ripe He will reveal His power. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...UNHOLY SONNET 11 by MARK JARMAN LISTEN, LORD: A PRAYER by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON A PRAYER FOR THE FUTURE by GEORGE BARLOW (1847-1913) DIFFERENT WAYS TO PRAY by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE PRAYER DURING A TIME MY SON IS HAVING SEIZURES by SHARON OLDS WE WHO PRAYED AND WEPT by WENDELL BERRY PRAYERS AND SAYINGS OF THE MAD FARMER by WENDELL BERRY |
