If you've walked with Wisdom -- known the way, Of this my friend, you're sure -- That when you come to The Great Day Naught else but Justice can endure; For this we know -- let come what may -- Who does God's work, will get God's pay. So after all 'tis well to share This world as best we may, Life's choicest gifts and blessings rare; We've such a little while to stay; Then ne'er forget -- let come what may -- Who does God's work, must get God's pay. If you've learned of better things than clay, If your soul has looked above, If you've walked the paths of Virtue's way, If you've scattered naught but Love, Your sure reward on your Great Day -- You've done God's work -- You'll get God's Pay! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ON ETHNIC DEFINITIONS by ELEANOR WILNER THE MARRIAGE OF HEAVEN AND HELL by WILLIAM BLAKE THE END OF THE WORLD by GORDON BOTTOMLEY 1X1 (ONE TIMES ONE): 20 by EDWARD ESTLIN CUMMINGS ONCE BY THE PACIFIC by ROBERT FROST THE HARVEST MOON; SONNET by HENRY WADSWORTH LONGFELLOW TO ALISON CUNNINGHAM; FROM HER BOY by ROBERT LOUIS STEVENSON |
