BLOOD, by CHARLES HENRY MACKINTOSH Poet's Biography First Line: Blood is anonymous -- it has no name Last Line: Blood writes its own philosophy and creed. Subject(s): Blood | |||
Blood is anonymous -- it has no name. It has no nationality, no flag. The proudest banner is a bloody rag When blood has washed it with its fluid flame. Blood makes the color of all flags the same. All blood is democratic. None is high Among the fallen, none is in command. The marshall's saber falls from the dead hand To join the rusting rifles where they lie, And all men are made equal . . . when they die. Blood has no prejudice of race or breed. Regardless of the color of the skin, All human beings prove to be blood kin . . . Not white or brown or yellow . . . when they bleed. Blood writes its own philosophy and creed. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SO MANY BLOOD-LAKES by ROBINSON JEFFERS LOVE IN BLOODLINE by SHARON OLDS RIVERS ARE NOT IMPASSIVE by AIME CESAIRE A VISIT TO GETTYSBURG by LUCILLE CLIFTON SHE UNDERSTANDS ME by LUCILLE CLIFTON NEW ENGLAND, AUTUMN by NORMAN DUBIE BANGLA DESH: 1 by FAIZ AHMED FAIZ BANGLA DESH: 2.
