UTOPIA, by VINCENT WILLIAM MALLEY First Line: There's a place that lives in all my dreams Last Line: Let us all help to build it on earth. Subject(s): Utopia | |||
There's a place that lives in all my dreams (That it's make believe place, I know.) It's a land where always Truth is king; A land where ideal folks grow. The land where men are both good and bad, And the bad are as fine as the good; -- The land where men are never afraid To do the things that they know they should. The land where folks are both weak and strong, And the meek are as brave as the fit; The land where men are never ashamed To live and laugh for the fun of it. The land where never a lie is told -- Where a word in hate is never heard; The land where women stand by their men And all men are true to their word. A land where folly is not a sin, Where the folks help a man prove his worth; Ah! show me that land that fills my dreams -- Let us all help to build it on earth. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE NEW HUDIBRAS by CHARLES WILLIAM BRODRIBB A REASONABLE CONSTITUTION by HERMAN MELVILLE EUTOPIA by FRANCIS TURNER PALGRAVE ERUPTION IN UTOPIA by GENEVIEVE TAGGARD THE BOOK OF THE DEAD: THE OTHER WORLD by ANONYMOUS IN A COPY OF MORE'S (OR SHAW'S OR WELL'S OR PLATO'S) UTOPIA by HENRY MAXIMILIAN BEERBOHM THE PLEA OF THE WEAK ONES by VINCENT WILLIAM MALLEY A GRAMMARIAN'S FUNERAL by ROBERT BROWNING THE PASSIONS: AN ODE FOR MUSIC by WILLIAM COLLINS (1721-1759) |
