SONNETS OF SUNRISE: 2, by EVA MARTIN Poet's Biography First Line: So would I wait for thee, o sun of love Last Line: Kiss all my buds to leaves, thou lord of light! Subject(s): Dawn; Sunrise | ||||||||
So would I wait for thee, O Sun of Love! In some still garden in a dawn of spring, Where happy-hearted birds awake and sing, And gentle flower-spirits idly rove. Oh, may the sky pale amber and pure mauve In stainless fields of rare adventure fling Before thy feet, while daffodils slow-swing Their fragrant censers in a golden grove. ... But may I, like that dawn-enchanted tree, Stand motionless, in rapture of desire To greet the day and bid farewell to night. Oh, when my spirit trembles forth to thee, Arise, and flood me with thy living fire!
