HUNGER, by
First Line: I have known hunger
Last Line: But he is crucified.
Subject(s): Crucifixion; Hunger; Jesus Christ - Crucifixion

I have known hunger,
But not for bread;
And He knew hunger too,
But He is dead.

Hunger for beauty,
Love . . . O Lonely One,
For your heart-breaking hunger --
Stone!

Thirsty, I drank
Tears from a broken jar:
He, on the bloody cross,
Gall and vinegar.

Hunger and thirst,
Impassioned pride,
He understood --
But He is crucified.
