SPRING RAPTURE, by CLARA MAY MASSEY First Line: For long has the earth been sleeping Last Line: Till it reaches the blue dome of the sky. Subject(s): Spring | ||||||||
For long has the earth been sleeping Under a coverlet of snow, While we mortals a vigil were keeping Where the wolf stalks to and fro. But spring in her splendor is spreading Beauty untold o'er the land, Sparkling jewels she is sharing Now with a lavish hand. We bask in the gold of her sunshine And marvel at the song birds call; We humbly worship at her shrine Where the spirit transcends all. The incense coming up from her altars Shall carry our prayers on high With a purpose that never falters Till it reaches the blue dome of the sky. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SPRING LEMONADE by TONY HOAGLAND A SPRING SONG by LYMAN WHITNEY ALLEN SPRING'S RETURN by GEORGE LAWRENCE ANDREWS ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD SPRING FLOODS by MAURICE BARING SPRING IN WINTER by CHARLOTTE FISKE BATES SPRING ON THE PRAIRIE by HERBERT BATES THE FARMER'S BOY: SPRING by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD IMAGINARY ANCESTORS: THE GIRAFFE WOMAN OF BURMA by MADELINE DEFREES |
