A SWEETNESS, by CAMILLE MAUCLAIR Poet's Biography First Line: A sweetness, then a softness Last Line: Chrysanthemum, on mine. Subject(s): Chrysanthemums; Flowers | ||||||||
A sweetness, then a softness, Then a slow caress that comes Over the damp Of my brow: Your hand that rests on my sadness. A flowered music, Then an insatiate longing, A music of grief unconsoled On the strings of my saddened heart: Your birdling voice that rests. A diamond gleam In the depth of a cold, clear water, An amethyst Brightened and caught in my mournful gaze: Your eyes on mine. ... But your lips of blood and the dawning On the dawn and the blood of my lips: Ah! your soul entire, Chrysanthemum, on mine. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THEY SAW THE PROBLEM by MARK JARMAN SHAKE THE SUPERFLUX! by DAVID LEHMAN THE M??TIER OF BLOSSOMING by DENISE LEVERTOV TANKA DIARY (6) by HARRYETTE MULLEN |
