A PRAYER FOR DELIVERANCE, by

God of Justice save the people,
God of truth and freedom save!
From all idle vaunting keep us,
From the fear that marks the slave.
From all strife and blind confusion,
From the wasting of our power.
God of Justice, Thou uphold us,
For the tasks of this great hour.

God of Wisdom, Thou instruct us,
Make us children of the light.
Let us not in purpose falter,
Strong defenders of the right.
Save us, Lord, from all divisions,
Keep this mighty people one;
One in faith and high endeavor,
That Thy righteous will be done.

God the Father of all peoples,
Hear the prayer we lift to Thee.
By Thy spirit still uphold us,
With Christ's freedom make us free.
By that faith that kept our fathers,
Help us crown our day with good.
For Thy tasks, O yet unite us
In the bonds of brotherhood.
