OCTOBER'S SUN, by CLYDE MCGEE First Line: O liberal sun in fair october's sky Last Line: Redeems the soul least worth to one most fair. Subject(s): Light; October; Sun | ||||||||
O liberal Sun in fair October's sky, How just and sure thine impartiality! The topmost trees that lift their heads on high Are richly crowned of thee, and lovingly The lone and ugly things that men decry, Thou turn'st to gold by selfsame alchemy! Ah, let me serve my day as faithfully! Withholding naught that I with him may share Who hath a need, nor give reluctantly Lest he not worthy be; but let me bear True witness to that Light whose ministry Redeems the soul least worth to one most fair. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...JOURNEY INTO THE EYE by DAVID LEHMAN AGAINST EXCESS OF SEA OR SUN OR REASON by WILLIAM MEREDITH WHY I WAKE EARLY by MARY OLIVER CONTRA MORTEM: THE SUN by HAYDEN CARRUTH SERPENT SUN EYE BEWITCHING MY EYE by AIME CESAIRE |
