HERE IN MY HAND, by ISABEL STEWART MCMEEKIN Poet's Biography First Line: Here in my hand softly you laid Last Line: I am a novice. I do not know. Subject(s): Jade | ||||||||
Here in my hand softly you laid This oldest and smallest fragment of jade, Fragile and tangible keystone of years, Amulet shriven and polished with tears, Guarded and cherished tenderly when It was more precious than forty strong men, Is it translucent or faintly a green Paler than April ever has seen, Is it translucent, or whiter than snow? I am a novice. I do not know. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...BESIDE MY DOOR by ISABEL STEWART MCMEEKIN GOD'S CONCERT by ISABEL STEWART MCMEEKIN LUCIE by ISABEL STEWART MCMEEKIN PUZZLED by ISABEL STEWART MCMEEKIN WILD GEESE by ISABEL STEWART MCMEEKIN A DREAM OF JULIUS CAESAR by ROBERT FROST MY LIGHT WITH YOURS by EDGAR LEE MASTERS YOU SAY YOU SAID by MARIANNE MOORE |
