LET IT BE SPRINGTIME, by NELLE LORAINE MILROY First Line: If privilege were mine to name the time Last Line: Lull me to slumber while the day is young. Subject(s): Birds; Spring | ||||||||
If privilege were mine to name the time That Mother Earth should fold me to her breast, It would be Spring, when roses wake and climb, And morningtide, when birds forsake the nest. What heart but thrills to Nature's matin song That hails the birth of day with jubilee; When God is choired by all His feathered throng And lilting paeans rise from bush and tree! Could season rival fragrant Spring to lie Within my ancient Mother's close embrace, Or time surpass the morn, when air and sky Are eloquent with beauty's charm and grace? Then let my requiem, in Springtime sung, Lull me to slumber while the day is young. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SPRING LEMONADE by TONY HOAGLAND A SPRING SONG by LYMAN WHITNEY ALLEN SPRING'S RETURN by GEORGE LAWRENCE ANDREWS ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD SPRING FLOODS by MAURICE BARING SPRING IN WINTER by CHARLOTTE FISKE BATES SPRING ON THE PRAIRIE by HERBERT BATES THE FARMER'S BOY: SPRING by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD THE NEW APOCRYPHA: BUSINESS REVERSES by EDGAR LEE MASTERS |
