BY THE FIRESIDE, by
First Line: Comfortably seated at twilight
Last Line: While we rest by the fireside.
Subject(s): Holidays; Thanksgiving

Comfortably, seated at twilight,
Shadows of evening fall,
The light from a blazing fire
Paints a picture on the wall,
A scene of exquisite beauty,
Warmth with a golden pride,
That opens a door to friendship
As we enjoy the fireside.
The angry winds of winter
Howl round the drifts of snow.
But the logs, that burn in the fireplace
Murmur soft and low,
Caressing the moments of leisure
Our conscience cannot hide,
And whisper a prayer of thanksgiving,
While we rest by the fireside.
