So many things to learn and see -- So many things to do and be -- We are encompassed and imbued With limitless infinitude. So many years -- behind -- ahead -- The vast unborn -- the countless dead -- Interminable sky and sea And undefined eternity. Innumerable nights and noons, A billion stars -- recurring moons -- The central sun's revolving light -- The miracles of sound and sight. The astral planets set in space And each in its appointed place; The cross, the crown, the rule, the rod -- The answer can be only -- God! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SHACKLETON by MADELINE DEFREES AMERICA IS HARD TO SEE by ROBERT FROST CONCERNING THE RIGHT TO LIFE by JORIE GRAHAM THE HEAD ON THE TABLE by JOHN HAINES PSALM OF THE WEST: SONNET ON COLUMBUS: 1 by SIDNEY LANIER PSALM OF THE WEST: SONNET ON COLUMBUS: 2 by SIDNEY LANIER PSALM OF THE WEST: SONNET ON COLUMBUS: 3 by SIDNEY LANIER PSALM OF THE WEST: SONNET ON COLUMBUS: 4 by SIDNEY LANIER APRIL by LOUISE MOSS MONTGOMERY |
