MY tears ran down
For two that were slain ...
Silent and passive
And side by side
They lay—my Love
And my Woman Pride.
Both were dear to me
Ere they had died ...
Which of them caused me
The greater pain?
Which would I summon
To life again—
Love o' my heart
Or my Woman Pride?
I know—though my lips will never tell ...
But women will know the answer well!
