AUTUMN, by NELLIE H. MOORE First Line: The air now bears a frosty chill Last Line: And god is turning o'er a page. Subject(s): Autumn; Seasons; Fall | ||||||||
The air now bears a frosty chill, The sky is rose and gray; The babbling brooks that can't lie still Make music the live-long day. The zephyrs give the trumpet call, The flowers discard their dress; The brown-tinged leaves begin to fall Against the earth's sweet breast. Richly dighted fields give place To bleak and barren lands, When angels with their wands erase The pictures which He planned. Vain youth is fading into age, And God is turning o'er a page. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...OUR AUTUMN by ELIZABETH AKERS ALLEN AN AUTUMN JOY by GEORGE ARNOLD A LEAF FALLS by MARION LOUISE BLISS THE FARMER'S BOY: AUTUMN by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD A LETTER IN OCTOBER by TED KOOSER AUTUMN EVENING by DAVID LEHMAN EVERYTHING THAT ACTS IS ACTUAL by DENISE LEVERTOV |
