JUST WHISPER THE MESSAGE, by                    
First Line: The lights were softly beaming o'er the brilliant ballroom floor
Last Line: The sweet-heart maid in calmness blankly prayed.

The lights were softly beaming o'er the brilliant ball-room floor,
The music softly sheeling sweetly echoed o'er and o'er,
The fragrance of crushed violets came wafted on the air,
The scene was one of grace and splendor fair;
And soft and low the strains awoke a waltz of beauty rare,
A youth and maid in rapture circled by,
He gently drew her closer, pressed the little hand so fair,
And fondly crooned the old familiar air.

Chorus

Just whisper the message a fond heart will hear,
Just softly, sweetly breathe it "Honey Dear,"
Like a zephyr of spring, let it fall from your lips,
To a poor aching heart, bringing cheer.

'Mid throngs of happy dancers in the liner's "Grand Saloon,"
The youth and maid were planning for the wedding day in June,
He said, "My own sweet loved one, life for me has just begun,"
And on each word the sweet-souled maiden hung;
Then rang a crash, and dark dismay swept o'er the maiden fair,
The youth in vain, the wreckage braved to stay,
They wrapped him in The Colors, for the souls he died to save,
They heard her to his mute lips strangely pray.

The night and black despair reigned o'er the prouder ocean deck,
Astern the eoned monster hoarsely croaked the human wreck;—
Oh, "Send out Succor," prayed the winds, "We're sinking by the
Head;"—
The very winds for pity calmed in dread;—
Stilled was the Key, but other pray'rs rose up to Heav'n above,
As one, in awful fervor, brave men prayed,
But as the proud boat slowly settled, to a living grave,
The sweet-heart maid in calmness blankly prayed.
