HONEYMOON FLIGHT, by J. E. NELSON First Line: They're flying north to the arctic seas Last Line: To the bridal shores on hudson's bay. Subject(s): Ducks; Geese; Migration; Mallards; Drakes | ||||||||
They're flying north to the Arctic seas, Endless lines of ducks and geese. We hear them calling by day and night; All of them on a honeymoon flight. By the frozen sea they will woo and wed And hatch their young in a Spartan bed Of weeds and reeds, in the midnight sun; For wooing and honeymoon soon are done. We watch their flight with kindling eyes, Fading from view in the northern skies. The Lord of the Hunt will guide their way To the bridal shores on Hudson's Bay. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...DUCK-CHASING by GALWAY KINNELL PORTRAIT OF THE GREAT WHITE HUNTER FOXHUNTING IN THE ABSENCE OF BIG... by CLARENCE MAJOR ESSAY: DUCKS by ELENI SIKELIANOS THE WILD DUCK'S NEST by WILLIAM WORDSWORTH THE MALLARDS PASS UNHARMED by LAURA FRANCES ALEXANDER MY MOTHER, 1930 by KAREN SWENSON |
