AMOUR DU CREPUSCULE, by ALFRED NOYES Poet Analysis Poet's Biography First Line: Sweet sleep, linger nigh Last Line: Murmuring of infinity. | |||
"To a tune of Blake's" SWEET Sleep, linger nigh; Let the smile be half a sigh, Wistful as the parting day, Tired of striving to be gay. Sweet Night, with dim hair Brush the sunny breast half bare, Where the rosebud softly glows Through the gloaming of repose. Sweet Love, with deep wings Clothe me close in shadowings, While my softly breathing lips Touch her softly breathing lips. Dreams, dreams, dim her eyes, Let her wake in sweet surprise, Wondering what sad singing bird In the twilight softly stirred. What sweet moment floated nigh, Flower or wild-winged butterfly, Honey-laden like a bee, Murmuring of infinity. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SONG OF SHERWOOD by ALFRED NOYES THE BARREL-ORGAN by ALFRED NOYES THE HIGHWAYMAN by ALFRED NOYES A BELGIAN CHRISTMAS EVE by ALFRED NOYES A NEW MADRIGAL TO AN OLD MELODY by ALFRED NOYES A NIGHT AT ST.
