GOLDEN SUNSET, by RUBEN T. NYGREN First Line: There's the hour of golden sunset Last Line: At the close of life's short days. Subject(s): Evening; Sunset; Twilight | ||||||||
There's the hour of golden sunset; And the joy it doth impart Fills my soul with sweet contentment And a cheer that fills my heart. Welcome then, blest hour of evening, Bringing peace to troubled mind; Finer gold than in your banners Toilers never yet have mined. But whene'er I watch the shadows Slowly lengthen o'er the lea And the sun, in all its splendor, Slips behind the rim of sea -- I behold more gorgeous sunbeams That beckon with their rays To a peace that's everlasting, At the close of life's short days. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...JOURNEY INTO THE EYE by DAVID LEHMAN FEBRUARY EVENING IN NEW YORK by DENISE LEVERTOV THE HOUSE OF DUST: 1 by CONRAD AIKEN TWILIGHT COMES by HAYDEN CARRUTH IN THE EVENINGS by LUCILLE CLIFTON NINETEEN FORTY by NORMAN DUBIE CONTENTMENT, AFTER THE MANNER OF HORACE by CHARLES STUART CALVERLEY O MORS!
