SAILS, by FLORENCE O'BRIEN First Line: To fancy sails upon the seas Last Line: And bring my love to me. Subject(s): Absence; Sea; Separation; Isolation; Ocean | ||||||||
To fancy sails upon the seas, To watch them float and sway, Wending their tireless way Like great white birds upon the breeze. And as I watch them sailing by, They seem to drift afar; I catch a gleam against the sky Like some bright lone star. I wonder if by chance some day These sails that ride the sea Will journey back this way, And bring my love to me. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...HALL OF OCEAN LIFE by JOHN HOLLANDER JULY FOURTH BY THE OCEAN by ROBINSON JEFFERS BOATS IN A FOG by ROBINSON JEFFERS CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE FIGUREHEAD by LEONIE ADAMS |
