MARCH NIGHT, by
First Line: The world is bare
Last Line: The apple-wood fire's bright red.
Subject(s): March (month); Night; Sleet; Bedtime

The world is bare
And bleak tonight.
The sleet on the window pane,
Strikes like the tattoo
Of stabbing thoughts
That beat me like bitter rain.

And why the ache?
A useless thing!
I turn -- 'tis completely fled;
For glows in my heart,
As in my room,
The apple-wood fire's bright red.
